3D Printing

I feel like 3D printing will be the next big technology fad in about 10 years. Once technology becomes a little more advanced, 3D printers are going to play a big role in society, especially the medical field. I think this because one of the articles talked about how 3D printers already make up one-third of all industrial automation and robotics. One of the articles talks about how 3D printing can be used to help create living organs and repair the human body. This makes severe injuries seem not so severe because the printer is able to reconstruct the body part or area that is injured. The printer can also be used to create accurate models of things such as engines, cars, and dental equipment. It is now much more convenient, cheaper, and faster to make scale models of things in the workplace.

wearable technology

As time progresses, I feel as though people are becoming more and more dependent on technology in their everyday lives.I think wearable technology will catch on at some point in the future. Im not sure about microchips being planted under peoples skin to make building entry more convenient for employees because to me that seems a little much just to get into a building. As for Google glasses or Apple watches, I think those will become popular because they can be useful and productive in the workplace. In fact, I think that in 10 or so years I will probably being using at least one of the devices while doing my job because I feel as they have a lot to contribute to society in the near future. That being said, I don't think I would use them outside the workplace just because I don't really see the purpose for a computer in your glasses while you are driving our walking around somewhere.

phone use

Almost everywhere I go I find myself on my phone, wether it be texting someone or checking an update from social media platform. As useful as technology can be, it can also create problems in certain conversations or social events. Normally when I am having a conversation with my friends, I feel as though I am on my phone too much and that I distance myself from the conversation. For the most part, I feel as it is acceptable for me to do this because most of the things we talk about isn't exactly important and most of my friends are on their phone anyway so it isn't a big deal. However, when I am having a conversation with say my teacher or mom, I really try to refrain from using my phone because I feel as though it would be rude to do so. When I am home, my mom doesn't let me use my phone at the dinner table because people can see it as disrespectful, which really has made me more aware of when and where it is ok to use my phone. For the most part, I know when it is ok to check my phone, but when I do I find myself not paying full attention to everything going on around me.

pros and cons

The pro I chose to talk about was that information technology empowers people. Technology is so advanced now that almost everywhere someone goes, they have access to pretty much unlimited information at the tip of their fingers. Our phones are basically a portable computer that keeps us up to date on what we value the most such as sports, politics, entertainment, and even global new. With access to all this data, it makes it easy for people to be more efficient and productive, as well as more creative and curious. It allows people to form their own views and ideas and even question those in power such as the government or business owners. The con I chose talks about social media in the workplace. By using social media, you put yourself at risk to hackers that could potentially steal your identity or even place a company-wide virus that can put all the company's information at risk. If a company is going to even use a social media platform at all, they should take the time to invest in the proper form of security. The safest option would most likely be to just avoid social media platforms in general to keep valuable information safe.

computer program

The program I chose that I find useful is Waze. Waze is a free app that you can download on your smartphone and as long as you are connected to wifi or have data, you can use it whenever. Basically, Waze is a traffic app which gives you a live feed of your local traffic. It is useful because you can check it before you go to drive somewhere and it can better help you plan the route better. It can also help you leave at the right time to insure that you wont be late to your destination. You can also use the app to check where police are, look at different gas prices near your location, see road closures, and to see where speed and red light cameras are. Overall the app can make driving to your destination more convenient and enjoyable.

technology

http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/08/31/t-mobile-says-it-will-ban-abusers-of-unlimited-data-plan/?module=BlogPost-Title&version=Blog Main&contentCollection=Mobile&action=Click&pgtype=Blogs&region=Body

This article was about how T-Moblie is starting to ban some users of their unlimited data plan. The main problem they have is that in which some users have started using their cellphones for tethering, which is sharing the phones internet connection with something like a computer. This uses a mass amount of data and T-Mobile says the criminals are smart hackers willing to do anything for their personal advantage. Tethering is not completely illegal with the plan however, it allows for a small amount of tethering within the plan. T-Moblie has also begun to use something called network deprioritization, where they give higher internet speeds to their users who consume less data on a regular basis.
